Description

On the Ice Cave & South Coast Waterfalls Tour you will discover some of Iceland's most impressive natural wonders. You will travel along the south coast, enter a fascinating ice cave beneath the Katla volcano and admire spectacular waterfalls.

Departing from Reykjavik, you travel southeast through breathtaking landscapes, from lava fields to rugged coastal cliffs. Your first stop is the impressive Katla Ice Cave. In a sturdy Super Jeep, you’ll drive over rough terrain to the edge of the Mýrdalsjökull glacier. Wearing crampons, you’ll enter the ice cave, a mesmerizing world of glistening blue and black ice. Your guide will provide fascinating insights into the geological processes that formed these icy tunnels.

After this unforgettable adventure, you will drive to the charming village of Vík í Mýrdal, located on the south coast. This picturesque village offers stunning views of black sand beaches and imposing basalt formations. You will have the chance to admire the iconic Vikurkirkja Church, which forms a striking contrast to the dramatic nature.

On the way back to Reykjavik, you’ll make two stops at some of Iceland’s most famous waterfalls. The first is Skógafoss, a mighty waterfall that plunges 60 meters down. Feel the spray on your skin as you experience the power of the water up close. If you’re up for a panoramic view, you can climb the stairs next to the waterfall.

The final stop is at Seljalandsfoss, one of the few waterfalls where you can walk behind it. This offers a unique opportunity to admire the cascading water from a special perspective and to take spectacular photos.

After these unforgettable experiences, you will return to Reykjavik, with memories of Iceland's rugged nature, a magical ice cave and impressive waterfalls.

This is the best trip we have made in Iceland so far!

Denis did everything he could to make this trip the best it could be, including adding an extra stop at Reynisfjara. This despite two other incredibly rude passengers. He was polite, knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and everything you could want in a guide!

Our guide, Monika, was very knowledgeable and managed to win over some difficult tourists with her professionalism. The ice cave itself is very small, but someone showed me a photo from March where the cave was much larger. Most impressive is the icy landscape at the foot of Katla. It is worth the trip to see such an incredible landscape.

What an amazing day. We saw a lot of the southern coastline which is rugged and beautiful. The Katla volcano/glacier was amazing. Our guide to the ice cave was knowledgeable and helpful. My 10 year old quickly felt at ease and said he is now a glacier expert. 🤪 bonus: we saw an arctic fox! Amazing waterfalls on the way home. This was a must do tour. Worth every penny.

I can't recommend this tour enough. Beautiful waterfall tour and an amazing ice cave. It was the highlight of our trip. Our guide Monica was fantastic, she was efficient, kind and entertaining, she made the day fly by! She took great photos of us at Skogafoss and explained everything and told us interesting facts and stories as she navigated the icy roads.
