On the Golden Circle, Fridheimar & Sky Lagoon Tour you will discover Iceland's spectacular nature, taste fresh tomatoes from a unique geothermal greenhouse and relax in the luxurious Sky Lagoon. This is the perfect combination of adventure, culture and wellness, where you will experience the highlights of the Golden Circle and end the day in pure relaxation.
You’ll begin your journey in Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site where you literally walk between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. This impressive landscape is not only geologically special, but also historically significant: the world’s oldest parliament was founded here in 930.
Next, you’ll visit the geothermal area of Geysir, where you’ll see the famous Strokkur Geyser shoot boiling water tens of meters into the air every few minutes. Around you, mud pools and plumes of steam bubble up from the earth, an impressive testament to the volcanic activity beneath your feet.
Afterwards, the tour takes you to the majestic Gullfoss waterfall. Feel the power of the meltwater from the Langjökull glacier as it plunges down in two stages into a deep gorge. Depending on the season, this natural spectacle is surrounded by snow or illuminated by a rainbow.
A special highlight of this tour is a visit to Friðheimar Farm, where you can enjoy a unique culinary experience in a large greenhouse surrounded by tomato plants. Thanks to geothermal heat, fresh tomatoes are grown here all year round. You will have the chance to taste the famous tomato soup and learn more about sustainable farming in Iceland.
After a day full of nature and culture, you will end in ultimate luxury at the Sky Lagoon. Here you can step into a warm, geothermal infinity pool with a breathtaking view over the Atlantic Ocean. With the Pure Pass you get access to the 7-step ritual, which includes a cold plunge pool, a steam room and a soothing body mask. This ensures total relaxation and leaves you feeling completely reborn.
The Golden Circle, Fridheimar & Sky Lagoon Tour combines the best of Iceland: spectacular landscapes, fascinating geothermal activity, delicious local food and ultimate wellness. An unforgettable experience that will recharge you both physically and mentally.
Reykjavik
You will be picked up at the chosen pick-up location. Please note that there may be delays as people are picked up at different locations and traffic can cause delays.
The remarkable crater lake, Kerið, is another popular attraction on Iceland’s Golden Circle route, famous for its greenish lake water and colorful crater formations on its slopes. Kerið crater was formed approximately 3,000 years ago during a volcanic eruption when the volcanic chamber collapsed after the burning magma was exhausted. It is shaped like a perfect inverted cone and a path has been built so that visitors can view the site. As a bonus, Kerið crater has been a popular concert venue for many years!
At Friðheimar farm you will get to know two very Icelandic things; the small Icelandic horse and the way local horticulture is supported by geothermal energy.
First on the agenda is a visit to the stables to see the horses in action at the horse show. Known for their small stature, strength and good humor, your hosts will demonstrate the five unique gaits that this breed is known for.
In the greenhouse, you’ll see how Icelanders have harnessed green energy to produce vegetables that would otherwise be impossible to grow in the often harsh local climate. Here, powerful solar lamps provide vital local production. Your guide will explain the processes involved in an engaging and informative way.
There you can taste the fruits of this labour and try their famous tomato soup or local drinks at the bar.
Gullfoss Waterfall, also known as the “Golden Falls”, is a beautiful, wide waterfall that plunges 11 metres (36 ft), then 21 metres (68 ft), roaring down into the depths of the canyon, with cliffs rising up to 70 metres (230 ft). You will feel its powerful presence as you approach the waterfall and take in its stunning visuals and intriguing history. Gullfoss River is fed by the Hvítá River, or White River, which originates from the Langjökull Glacier.
An active geothermal area, the Geysir area has many fascinating features to see. Steam vents, bubbling pits, warm pools, with different colors, and the biggest highlight of the area, the Strokkur geyser which erupts every 5-10 minutes up to 20 meters (65.62 ft) high in the air, a real spectacle of nature. And the Great Geysir is a calm, blue depth of water nearby. A visitor center is right next to the area with shops and several lunch options.
Safety is important, so a reminder to visitors to walk alone along the trail as the steaming pits and hissing water boil beneath your feet at extremely high temperatures.
Thingvellir National Park is a site of both geological and cultural significance and was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2004.
Thingvellir is home to the exposed part of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, the divergent rift between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates, meaning you are between two continents, here, in Iceland. The Öxarárfoss waterfall cuts through the ridge with a stunning 13-metre (42.65 ft) drop, which you will visit as you walk along the trail.
The world's first parliament was established in Iceland, here in Thingvellir, in 930 AD. From Hakið lookout, you can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the entire area. Þingvellir Church, consecrated in 1859, boasts a simple, elegant appearance that adds a historical and cultural touch to the natural landscape. Nearby is Almannagjá Gorge, with its clear glacial water flowing deep within the lava walls. The water originates from Iceland's second-largest glacier, Langjökull, which has broken through the porous lava fields below.
Your driver/guide will pick you up further down the Rift Valley.
Sky Lagoon is a new geothermal spa located on the tip of a quiet peninsula just outside Reykjavík city center. Sky Lagoon is a popular alternative to the Blue Lagoon with a lower capacity for a more relaxing and exclusive experience.
Follow the 7-step Gelmir Ritual Experience included in your entrance ticket. The ritual takes you on a journey through the various pools, saunas and steam baths that the Sky Lagoon has to offer.
After your time at Sky Lagoon, take the short journey back to the centre and be dropped off at your preferred drop off location.
You will be dropped off at the place where you were picked up that morning. This concludes a day full of impressions and experiences that have introduced you to the real Iceland.
We had an amazing day with Monica as our guide, she really shared great information about all the sights we saw and made the day so much fun. We did the golden circle, the kerid crater, the tomato farm (had a great lunch and wine here), met some beautiful Icelandic horses and finished the day with a swim in the sky lagoon. Thank you so much Monica for such an amazing day, we enjoyed it!
One of the best days of my life. Great driver, thanks HBO and every aspect was special. I have done this trip before but this time the sun was shining and we visited extra places and it is just wow. Finished with cocktails at Sky Lagoon and then home to see the Northern Lights. Thanks for the memories
This is a great tour of the Golden Circle if you are short on time and only have one day to do it. They take you to many places and our guide, Addi, was attentive and knowledgeable about the history and facts of Iceland. He made sure we had a great time on this tour and we did! The tomato farm was the highlight of our tour and so was the horse show
This tour was the absolute highlight of our trip to Iceland. Bryndis was an amazing guide who was very friendly and had a lot of knowledge that she shared with our small group.
Picking up the bus was easy and our guide, Dooley, was very knowledgeable as he has lived in Iceland his whole life.
The scenery was amazing, learning and being with Icelandic horses on a farm growing tomatoes in geothermal greenhouses was interesting and the lunch of all things tomato (including the beer!) was very tasty. The different landscapes we explored on the trip gave us some great photo opportunities and the relaxing experience at Sky Lagoon at the end of a long day was just what we needed.
