On the 3-Day Golden Circle, South Coast & Glacier Lagoon Tour you will discover some of Iceland's most breathtaking places. Travel in a small group and enjoy spectacular landscapes, impressive waterfalls and the enchanting Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon. This 3-day trip offers the perfect combination of adventure and relaxation, as you immerse yourself in the country's rugged nature and rich history.
The tour starts early in the morning in Reykjavík, where you will board a comfortable minibus and head to the famous Golden Circle.
Þingvellir National Park
The first stop is the impressive Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site of both historical and geological significance. Here you can walk between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates, which are visibly drifting apart. Þingvellir was also the site of Iceland’s first parliament, founded in 930.
Geysir Geothermal Area
Next, you’ll visit the geothermal area Geysir, where bubbling hot springs and steam vents create a surreal landscape. The star of the area is Strokkur, an active geyser that shoots a powerful jet of water tens of meters into the air every few minutes.
Gullfoss Waterfall
Next stop is the majestic Gullfoss Waterfall, one of Iceland’s most powerful and beautiful waterfalls. The water cascades down in two stages into a deep canyon, making for a spectacular view.
Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach
The last stop of the day is the world-famous Reynisfjara, a dramatic black sand beach on the south coast of Iceland. Here you can watch the wild waves of the Atlantic Ocean crash against the shore, surrounded by high basalt columns and impressive cliffs. In the distance you can see the mysterious rock formations Reynisdrangar rising out of the sea.
After a day full of unforgettable natural wonders, you will travel on to your accommodation in the area, where – depending on the season – you can try to see the Northern Lights.
On day two you head further east and come face to face with Iceland's mighty glaciers and icebergs.
Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon
The day starts with a visit to the famous Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, where huge icebergs break off from the glacier and slowly float through the icy waters. This is one of the most beautiful and photogenic spots in Iceland. Between April and October you can even take a boat tour to see the icebergs up close.
Optional Ice Cave Experience (add as an extra on the checkout page)
Want to experience Iceland in a unique way? Then you can add an optional ice cave tour to your trip. You will be taken to the glacier in a super jeep, where you will explore a magical ice cave under the guidance of an experienced guide. The bright blue ice walls and fascinating patterns make this an unforgettable experience.
Diamond Beach
After your glacier adventure, visit the enchanting Diamond Beach, where ice floes sparkle on the black sand like sparkling diamonds. This is one of the most unique landscapes in the world.
After a day full of ice and adventure, you will spend the night in accommodation in the region of Skaftafell, an area known for its breathtaking nature and vast glaciers.
If you take the tour during the winter months, this is another chance to spot the Northern Lights.
On the final day you'll travel back along the South Coast, visiting a number of more iconic locations.
Vík í Mýrdal
Your first stop is the picturesque coastal village of Vík, Iceland’s southernmost village. Here you can enjoy stunning views of the rugged cliffs and the famous Reynisdrangar sea stacks.
Skógafoss Waterfall
Next, visit Skógafoss, an impressive 60-metre high waterfall. The powerful spray rising from the falling water often creates a beautiful rainbow. You can also climb the 430 steps to the viewing platform above the waterfall for a spectacular view.
Seljalandsfoss Waterfall
The last stop on the tour is Seljalandsfoss, one of the few waterfalls in the world where you can walk behind. Put on your raincoat, because you're guaranteed to get wet here!
